GABAPENTIN

Gabapentin oral capsule is used to treat the following conditions:

• Seizures: Gabapentin is used to treat partial (focal) seizures. It’s taken together with other seizure medications in adults and in children 3 years of age and older who have epilepsy.
• Postherpetic neuralgia: This is pain from nerve damage caused by shingles, a painful rash that affects adults. Shingles appears after infection with the varicella zoster virus. This virus occurs in people who have had chicken pox.

Gabapentin may be used as part of a combination therapy. This means you may need to take it with other drugs.

Antidepressants are widely used to treat chronic neuropathic pain (pain due to nerve damage), usually in doses below those at which they exert antidepressant effects. Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that is occasionally used for treating neuropathic pain. It affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with depression. It is used to treat symptoms of depression. It may help improve mood and feelings of well-being, relieve anxiety and tension, and increase your energy level. Nortriptyline is not recommended for use in children.

Pregabalin is an anti-epileptic drug, also called an anticonvulsant. It works by slowing down impulses in the brain that cause seizures. Pregabalin also affects chemicals in the brain that send pain signals across the nervous system.

Pregabalin is used to treat :

• neuropathic pain caused by damaged nerves due to diabetes, shingles, or spinal cord injury
• fibromyalgia (pain all over your body)
• partial onset seizures when taken with other seizure drugs

Pregabalin belongs to a class of drugs called anticonvulsants. A class of drugs is a group of medications that work in a similar way. These drugs are often used to treat similar conditions. It isn’t known exactly how pregabalin works. It’s believed to work by calming the damaged or overactive nerves in your body that may cause pain or seizures.

 

METHYLCOBALAMIN

It is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is important for the brain and nerves, and for the production of red blood cells. Methylcobalamin is used to treat vitamin B12 deficiency. This medicine is sometimes used in people with pernicious anemia, diabetes, and other conditions. Methylcobalamin has been used as a supplement in patients with vitamin B₁₂ deficiency and in those with diabetes and other neuropathies.

Vitamin B₁₂ is obtained from animal products (eg, meat, fish, shellfish, poultry, eggs, milk, milk products). Tempeh, made from fermented soybeans, contains the beneficial bacteria responsible for producing vitamin B₁₂. Commercial forms of methylcobalamin are produced in the laboratory through the conversion of Cyanocobalamin.

Together, they relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves).
